About
A trading house built around the parts of the trade that go wrong.
Getting metal assayed, insured, across a border and paid for is where deals fail, and it is the part we are built for.
What Mintador is
We trade. We do not refine.
We buy and sell metal. Refining, assaying and manufacturing are done by accredited third parties, and we want it that way: the laboratory that tells us the fine weight should have no stake in the price.
Institutional only
We deal with licensed entities: refiners, producers, aggregators, manufacturers and other trading houses. There is no retail arm, no online sales, and no investment product.
Physical only
We trade metal that exists, in a form that can be weighed and assayed, moving from one party to another. We do not deal in paper claims or financial products.
What the licence permits
A trading licence is a narrow permission. Here is what it covers.
- Licensing authority
- Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC)
- Licensed activity
- Non-Manufactured Precious Metal Trading (DMCC activity code 5142-04)
- Not licensed for
- Refining · Assaying · Minting or manufacturing · Operating a vault for third parties · Financial services, investment advice or custody of client funds
Why Dubai
The metal comes through here
The refineries, the vaults and the secure carriers are in Dubai because the metal is. A parcel that lands here can be assayed, refined and sold on without leaving the emirate.
Inside a regulated free zone
The DMCC is the commodities free zone the trade is built around, with rules for precious metals that member firms are held to.
One jurisdiction
The bank, the insurer and the carrier are in the same jurisdiction as the metal, so when something needs sorting out it happens in one time zone.
How we work
The four things we do on every trade.
Say no early
A fast, clear refusal is worth more to a counterparty than a slow maybe. If a parcel is not for us, you hear that in the first conversation.
Put it in writing
Anything we agreed by phone gets written down the same day and sent back to you. If it is not in the confirmation, it was not agreed.
Show us
We ask for documents, and we read them. Nobody serious is offended by that.
Stay inside the licence
We buy and sell metal, and the licence above says exactly what we do not do. We stay inside it.
Do not take our word for any of this
Everything above is a claim made by us, on a site we control. Here is how to check it somewhere we do not.
Search the DMCC member register
DMCC publishes a public register of its member companies. Search our registered name there. If the name and licence we publish do not match the register, do not deal with us.
Ask for the licence itself
Ask us and we send the trade licence and the VAT certificate. If a counterparty will not send you theirs, walk away.
Confirm by voice
Call the number published on this site and ask for the person who wrote to you. Never confirm a counterparty, and never confirm payment instructions, through the same email thread that proposed them.
Check what we are not
If anyone representing Mintador offers refining, vaulting, financing or an investment, they are not acting for us.
Ask the difficult questions first.
Everything on this page can be verified in an afternoon. Once it checks out, make the enquiry.
